The Go Red for Women initiative, aimed at cutting heart disease in women, is rolling out its Better U Challenge.

Dr. Uzma Iqbal, a cardiologist at St. Joseph's Hospital, says it's a twelve week heart healthy makeover, running from June 26 to September 14, and concentrating on better eating choices and staying physicially active. Dr. Iqbal says women who want to sign up, must do so by the end of the month, with ten to be chosen for the program.  They will get a personal trainer and access to Gold's Gym, along with medical testing and monitoring, and lots of information on 'better' heart choices.  It is free.

Anyone not in the actual program, can do it on her own--the website for signup and for information is  www.heart.org/GoRedSyracuse   The signup deadline is May 31st.
