WATERTOWN -- Two young school students are safe after the bus they were riding in rolled onto its side during a car accident.

It happened just after 3:00 p.m. on Interstate 81 south near Watertown.

The bus was from the South Jefferson School District.

State police say the bus was hit from behind by a speeding 2008 Saab causing the bus to go off the right shoulder of the interstate and roll onto its side.

The passenger car was operated by David Podkowka, 29 of Clayton, New York.

Podkowka was issued traffic tickets by the State Police for Imprudent Speed, Following Too Closely, and Moving from Lane Unsafely. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Watertown Court at a later date.

The investigation found no fault on the part of the school bus driver.
