Winning ticket was an 'extra' he bought
The man who bought a winning Powerball ticket checked into the North Side Syracuse grocery late Monday afternoon, and found out he is a million dollar winner.
The owner of the Far East and Asia Grocery on Syracuse's North Townsend Street tells us the man is a long-time customer who plays the same numbers every week, though the winning ticket was a Quick Pick extra ticket that he bought last week. The winner was out of town for the long weekend, and did not know he'd won, until he checked the ticket. The store's owner says she's never heard the checking machine's sound effects so loud.
The man has gotten the store's ticket verification, and plans to go to the lottery to claim his prize, later this week.
