TOWN OF ONONDAGA (AP) -- Authorities say a 46-year-old woman has died from injuries suffered when she crashed into a tree while riding an all-terrain vehicle on a trail outside Syracuse.

State police tell the Post-Standard of Syracuse that Sharon Kraft of Syracuse died Monday afternoon at Upstate University Hospital.

Troopers say she suffered severe head trauma Sunday afternoon when her ATV crashed off a dirt trail in the town of Onondaga, then hit a fence and an apple tree. Police say she wasn't wearing a helmet.

The crash occurred on a dirt trail between the Beak and Skiff apple orchard and the Orchard Vali golf course along Route 20. A golfer found Kraft and alerted authorities.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
