SYRACUSE -- An illegal burn turned into a five hour battle for Syracuse firefighters Wednesday afternoon.

The brush fire started just before 3 p.m. behind Alliance Bank Stadium near the CSX railroad tracks.

Crews were unable to get to the fire right away because of a pile of old wood, according to investigators. A CSX backhoe was called in to clear out the area near Ley Creek.

No one was hurt.
