WEST MONROE -- The Oswego County Sheriffs Department is investigating a fatal crash in West Monroe.

It happened Wednesday around 9:00 p.m. near Smith Road and County Route 11.

The vehicle was traveling north down Route 11 when it drove off the road at a curve and rolled over into a tree. The driver was the only person in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed is being regarded as a contributing factor in this crash. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of family members, but deputies say the victim is a North Carolina resident.
