Apple slice worries prompt national recall, including at Wegmans and Hannaford

Snack foods containing sliced apples are being recalled, including some sold under local grocery labels

A nationwide recall of fruit, vegetable and sandwich products includes snacks sold by national fast food chains and a pair of Central NY food stores.

Sliced apples used in several products may have listeria contamination, so the packager is doing a voluntary recall.

Among the products affected, sliced apple snacks sold by McDonalds and Burger King.
Locally, three Wegmans label snacks are affected:
~Apples, Celery, Raisins & Peanut Butter (4oz pkg) with a sell date on/before August 18/UPC code 7789026744
~Apples, Cheese & Caramel Dip (4oz) with a sell date on/before August 15/UPC code 7789026743
~Apples, Granola & Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt (4.3oz) with a sell date on/before August 18/UPC code 7789026737
Hannaford also has some if its label product recalled:
~Snack Pac Apples, Granola & Yogurt (4.3oz) with a sell date on/before August 18/UPC code 4126817195
~Snack Pac Apples & Caramel (4oz) with a sell date on/before August 18/UPC code 4126817191

If you have some of the recalled product, should record the use by date and UPC Code and dispose of the package(s), then call toll free  800  800-7822, M-F 8am-5pm(Pacific Time).
