CLAY (AP) -- Authorities say a 19-year-old man hit by a car while crossing a Syracuse-area road has died from his injuries.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says Michael Cardwell Jr. of Clay died at Upstate University Hospital. He had been in critical condition since being hit by the car Tuesday night.

Deputies say Cardwell was crossing against the light on Route 57 in his hometown just north of Syracuse when he walked into the path of a car driven by an 18-year-old woman.

The driver wasn't ticketed.
