CORTLANDVILLE -- Investigators say a drunk driving car accident in Cortland County killed a local woman and injured another man.

The crash happened around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon on State Route 41, near the Interstate 81 interchange in Cortlandville.

New York State Police say the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was hit head-on by a pickup truck.

55-year-old Janet Cochran from McGraw was taken to the Cortland Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup truck, 41-year-old Gary Strout Jr., only received minor injuries.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter.
