EATON, MADISON COUNTY -- A Madison County babysitter is facing charges after the toddler she was watching was found wandering alone.
It happened in the Town of Eaton around 9:05 a.m.
Madison County Sheriff's deputies say they found a 2 1/2 year old boy standing along the grass shoulder of Park Street near Route 26.
Deputies say the little boy was carrying his shoes and his pants were soggy.
Investigators say the boy had wandered about a quarter mile away from home.
They say the child's babysitter, 20-year-old Starr Miller, put the boy down for a nap. They say he then wandered off while Miller was sleeping. The boy's mother was notified, and she was reunited with her son.
Miller is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. She was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court on October 10.
