After being told he was too big to play pee wee football, one middle schooler finally made it on the gridiron Monday night.

Elijah Earnheart stands out on the football field, not for his blocking skills, or his ability to stop the rush, but for something you can't coach: his size.

At 12-years-old, Elijah stands 6-foot 3-inches and weighs 300 pounds.

A few weeks ago, the pre-teen was told he exceeded the 135 pound weight limit for his pee wee team, but now he's being welcomed with open arms to the middle school team.

Elijah's mom says he's learning about the game and how to play, and most important, he's having fun.

"He's so excited. He didn't even want to go to sleep last night. He's been trying to drink Monsters all day to have energy. He's just really excited for himself and his team," says Elijah’s mother, Cindy Earnheart.

Elijah’s coach, Matt Tecklenburg, says, "He's a very humble kid. He keeps it all in perspective, he just goes out there, and like, he doesn't talk about it. He doesn't talk about what's going on. He's just out there playing, having fun."
