SYRACUSE -- A new report says Syracuse is among the top 10 worst performing cities in the country. That's according to the report by the Brookings Institute.

According to MetroMonitor, a quarterly report from the Brookings Institute, Syracuse was number nine on the list.

The report looked at unemployment, production and home prices. In Syracuse, unemployment hit a new high in the second quarter of 2012, employment grew 1.8 percent, the gross metro product was up 6.5 percent since 2009 and home prices hit a new low in the first quarter of this year, according to the report.

In March, the same report by Brookings listed Syracuse among the 20 worst performing cities.
