Suspects charged with stealing, then returning items for gift cards

DeWitt Police have arrested four Syracuse residents in a theft and fraud scheme at Home Depot in East Syracuse, and DeWitt's Police Chief confirms that one of the suspects is a Syracuse Firefighter.

30 year old Lotan Mitchell from Edna Drive, , along with 29 year old Sundai Tyler from Onondaga Avenue, 37 year old Shaundell Hamonds from Edna Drive,  and 59 year old Everton Mitchell from Berger Avenue were all arrested after a two month investigation, prompted  by Home Depot workers who thought they were seeing fraudulent returns.

DeWitt Chief Eugene Conway tells us the four are charged with stealing merchandise, worth over $38-thousand dollars, from the Bridge Street Home Depot over the past year, then returning the items for  gift cards for financial gain.

The four face replimary charges of Grand Larceny and Falsifying Business records.  They're due back in Dewitt Court on Wednesday.
