MARCY (AP) -- Authorities are investigating the apparent drowning of a woman whose body was found in a central New York pond.

State police say Tuesday that troopers were called around 5 p.m. Monday to a property in the Oneida County town of Marcy, just north of Utica.

Police say 52-year-old Debra Sadigh of Utica was found in the pond by someone who knew her. Emergency crews tried to resuscitate her at the scene before she was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, where she was pronounced dead around 7:15 p.m.

Officials say they're investigating the circumstances leading up to her death.
