ALBANY (AP) -- Work on the Route 281 bridge over Cold Brook in the Cortland County town of Homer is scheduled to begin this week.
The work is funded by NY Works, a program to increase safety on roads and bridges while putting people to work. It was supposed to start earlier this fall but was delayed at the request of farmers who rely on the bridge during harvest. It's now scheduled to start on Wednesday.
The bridge deck replacement work is part of a $6.8 million contract to replace concrete decks on seven structures in Central New York.
Vector Construction of Cicero will also replace concrete decks this year on bridges on Route 222 over Fall Creek in Tompkins County and Interstate 481 over Kirkville Road in Onondaga County.
