Hannibal man faces charges after hunting accident

ELLISBURG, JEFFERSON CO. (AP) -- A hunter is being treated for a gunshot wound and another man faces weapons charges after a hunting accident in Jefferson County.
The Watertown Daily Times reports that the victim was flown to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. His name wasn't released.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. Saturday in Ellisburg, about 50 miles north of Syracuse. Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies charged 40-year-old Gerald D. Wells Jr. of Hannibal with criminal possession of a weapon. He's accused of possessing a firearm, a muzzle loader, while on probation. Wells is not accused of causing injury to anyone.
