ROME -- A Rome man who is on parole for a sex offense was arrested for rape on Wednesday night in the city of Rome, according to Chief Dean Obernesser of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

William P. Pike, 21, was arrested by Rome Police Detective Richard Galluppi after an investigation into a sexual encounter between Pike and an individual under 17 years of age.

Pike was arraigned in Rome City Court and sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility.  Bail was set at $30,000.  The case has been sent to the Oneida County District Attorney's Office for grand jury consideration.

The Child Advocacy Center has offered counseling to the victim.
