UTICA -- Police in Utica say the bodies of a man and a woman have been found inside a home on McVean Street by officers searching for a suspect in a shooting that occurred earlier this week.

Police say were looking for Jerry McNair, 37,  who was accused of breaking into the home of his ex-girlfriend on Monday where he allegedly strangled her with a USB cable until she lost consciousness and then shot her in the back of the head.

During police investigation on Wednesday, they developed information that McNair may be hiding in a house at 815/817 McVean Street.

Police say officers surrounded a house for several hours and made attempts to contact the man and any residents inside with no success.

Police say they entered the second floor residence around 9:30 p.m. Once inside, police say they found a deceased man and woman.

The identities of the two people haven't been released, and police haven't said how they died.

Police say the woman McNair shot on Monday is recovering.  A press conference is scheduled to be held on Thursday and more details will be released.
