Shamel Bell, 22, and Fanya Smith, 25, both of Utica, were arrested following a search warrant executed at 534 Jefferson Avenue in the City of Utica last Friday.

Utica Police say investigators seized a loaded 9mm handgun, crack cocaine, heroin, packaging materials and a digital scale.

Bell was under the supervision of New York State Parole at the time of his arrest, according to police.

Both are charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Smith was additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation.
