As we honor Women's History Month, you will likely hear a lot this month about women who have had an impact on our community.

The March edition of Syracuse Woman Magazine focuses on "Women Making Moves" in Central New York.

On the Talk Tonight on NBC3, Managing Editor Farah Jadran unveiled this month's cover. It features the Hon. Julie Cecile, the newest edition to the 5th District Family Court bench in Onondaga County. As a lifelong Syracuse resident, Julie knows all too well the challenges the area faces, but also she is well aware of all the great things the Salt City has to offer. Julie's husband, Jim Cecile, also serves on the bench as a city court judge, which makes for many teaching moments for their three children. She talks about her passion for family and how she made her transition from being executive director of the McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Center to the Family Court bench.

This month's edition also features the National Women's Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation in Fayetteville and a brief history of women's fashion as well.

You will also find a special feature on the 2013 Vera House White Ribbon Campaign and its three honorary chairs: CNYCentral's Matt Mulcahy and Michael Benny, and WSYR9's Dan Cummings. The three local news anchors share the reasons why they made a pledge to spread the message that there is "no excuse for abuse" when it comes to relationships.

Expect to be inspired by three women making moves in Central New York, including Meagan Martin, founder of Bikers For Life Foundation, Maureen Maney, the president of the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York, and a mother-daughter duo, Amy and Aria VanDreason, who share their appreciation for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

You will also learn about Syracuse's inaugural half-marathon on March 24 with race day tips from Fleet Feet Syracuse's Training Programs Manager Fred Joslyn. Have you heard about the Executive Women's Golf Association of CNY? If not, you'll learn more about this innovative group of women. The local chapter of the National EWGA focuses on teaching women how to play golf, but also to realize how the sport is a part of the business world too.

The edition also features the Shamrock Animal Fund, an organization established by CNYCentral Anchor Matt Mulcahy and his wife Jamie. This year, Shamrock's Celebration will take place March 23 at King & King Architects in Syracuse.
