The Red Ram senior, and future SU star scored 32 points and pulled down 20 rebounds in a classic early season game, the Red Rams finally winning it 75-70 in overtime at the Peppino's Invitational Tournament.

It was just three short seasons ago that the Henninger High School Black Knights won a Section III Class AA Football Championship. While last year marked a down year for the Knights with a 2-6 record, 2011 figures to be more like 2008.

No. 2 Syracuse (2-0) jumped in front of No. 18 Army early and turned back a furious rally by the Black Knights to record an 11-9 triumph on Sunday, Feb. 27 at the Carrier Dome. The Orange led 7-0 in the first quarter and 9-3 at halftime. But Army (1-2) closed the gap to 10-9 in the fourth quarter before a goal by senior Jeremy Thompson (Nedrow, N.Y.) with 1:06 to play sealed the game.

No question, the Henninger community has undergone enormous amounts of sorrow over the past 18 months. There was the passing of former basketball coach and administrator Joe Mazella. Then this past fall, there was the untimely death of former basketball star Kihary Blue.

The Corcoran Cougars came into this week's Toyota High School Game of the Week having only given up an average of 6 points to their opponents, and having scored an average of 37 points a game. Those statistics shined through against Henninger, a 27-7 victory, improving the Cougars to 5-and-0 on the season.
