High school lacrosse season is kicking into high gear, and in just a few weeks, squads from around the region will be competing in sectional playoffs. Yet, the More Than a Game Foundation gave those athletes a new kind of motivation this Saturday in their "Stick It to Cancer" high school lacrosse event.

The opening week of the high school basketball team did show us a lot about what we can expect in the winter of 2011-2012, schools such as Jamesville-Dewitt and Henninger look to have the potential to repeat as Class A and Class AA champions respectively.
Some other classes though are showing, as usual, a lot of parity.

Sargent, for the second year in a row, qualified for the New York State Cross-Country Meet. He did so by finishing 2nd at the Section III meet this fall, and he finished 18th among the best runners in the state at the tournament.

The LaFayette Lancers have taken a step forward every year since its merger with the Fabius Pompey football program. The team was winless back in 2007, but has taken strides every year, even making Sectionals in 2009.
