In the first Division I women’s lacrosse game in the nation, Syracuse defeated Jacksonville, 21-8, on Sunday, Jan. 13. The Orange, which opened the season on the road for the first time since 2007, has now won its season opener in six consecutive seasons.

For the second consecutive game, junior Michelle Tumolo (Mullica Hill, N.J.) led Syracuse with eight points (5 goals, 3 assists) to tie her career high. Freshman Kailah Kempney (Carthage, N.Y.) also tied her career high with five goals, while freshman Devon Collins (Rochester, N.Y.) tallied five goals in a game for the first time in her career. Overall, nine players registered goals for the Orange.
