CICERO --
With high school football underway this Friday night, what better way to start this school year's Dunkin' Donuts Action News Athlete series than with a true blue NCAA Division I prospect? Jordan Thompson is a defensive end for the C-NS Northstars, reaching for the stars in his senior year after beating the State Champions in the regular season over the past two years. This time he hopes it is the Northstars who will be doing the winning in that championship game. Thompson already has a scholarship offer on the table from Temple but says his focus is on leading the Northstars, and letting that leadership help carry him to the next level.
"I wanna be humble”, says Thompson, “because this is a team sport. But I'm gonna give everything I got every day, basically I try to give eveything I got each and every practice. My father and my coach keep saying practice like you play and just kinda have that frame of mind.”
“The coaching staff is going to be asking him to do things above and beyond the call of duty”, says head coach Steve Ellis, “and he's got the right attitude for it so we're pretty excited. We're just glad we're not game-planning against him.”
The Northstars begin their season at Central Square Friday night.
