CICERO -- There were a lot of questions surrounding the Section III champion Henninger Black Knights heading in the season. Could they defend their title and how would they replace star quarterback Kihary Blue? Well, the Black Knights took a big step towards answering those questions Friday night with a resounding 27-10 victory over the Cicero-North Syracuse Northstars.
Replacing Blue is Shawn Bryant, and he looked right at home leading the Henninger attack. Late in the second quarter Bryant bombed a 55 yard touchdown pass to Langston Lambert that put the Black Knights up 6-3. Reggie Robinson closed out the half with a four-yard run that put Henninger up 14-3 at the half.
But Bryant wasn’t done. In fact, he did seven better on his next touchdown pass, connecting with Tevin Harris to increase the lead to 20-3. Bryant showed fantastic touch threading the needle on a pass to Cole King on a 41 yard strike.
C-NS would get on the board one more time when Anthony Fiorini tossed a screen pass to Tom Padula for a 26 yard with time winding down to make it 27-10.
