AUBURN -- 14 touchdowns and 840 total yards would be good numbers for anyone in a single season. Auburn running back Ismail Brooks has done it in the past two weeks. He’s impressed both teammates, and himself.
His teammate and cousin Juluan Richardson says, "He's always been good, but I didn't know he was this good till these past two weeks."
Brooks says, “I surprised myself a little bit but it's mostly just working really hard and getting in the zone and zoning out and just having fun out there."
Brooks has done his damage against Central Square two weeks ago, and Fayetteville Manlius last week. Whenever you score 14 touchdowns in two weeks, people will start to take notice. Brook’s coach, Dave Moskov, says Ismail’s performance the past two weeks have made college scouts take a harder look,
“Those numbers have drawn a lot of attention in terms of what he's done. A lot of schools are calling, just checking up, 'how's he doing?' SAT scores. Just looking into those types of things right now."
Moskov says schools such as Rutgers, Buffalo, UConn, and yes, Syracuse have expressed interest in Ismail. But, for now, Brooks is still a Maroon, and this week’s Dunkin’ Donuts Action News Athlete. Congratulations Ismail!
