SYRACUSE -- The sun may not have been out at Fowler this afternoon but that did not stop Fulton’s running game from shining bright. The Raiders would rush for six touchdowns in a 39-26 win over the Falcons in this week’s Toyota High School Game of the Week.
Fulton senior D.J. Ingham rushed for four touchdowns while teammate Donald Watson would score two of his own. It was obvious from the start that running the ball was going to be the Raiders game plan as Ingham would rush in for the first touchdown of the game early in the first quarter.
Fowler’s athleticism however was shown in this game with their strong spread offense. Falcon quarterback Kelvin Amparo rushed for two long touchdowns, including one for 62 yards. Fowler would actually score on the last play of the game, but still came up short.
Fulton head coach Michael Conners is happy with the win, but knows they have a lot work to do next week in practice.
“We did a lot of good things today, but they exploited a lot of weaknesses today with the spread offense, which we are going to see next week at New Hartford,” Conners said. “So we are going to have to sure things up.”
The Raiders stay perfect on the season and improve to 5-0 while the Falcons fall to 2-3.
Both teams are in action next Friday night as Fulton welcomes New Hartford and Fowler travels to East Syracuse-Minoa.
