ONONDAGA -- For almost all of Will Hunter's life, he has been a player. He spent six years in professional football, including two years with the Minnesota Vikings, before tearing his achilles tendon, essentially ending his playing career.
That end brought a new beginning for Hunter, when he interviewed for the job at Onondaga Central High School for a spot on Head Coach Jason Ryan's staff.
Hunter says "They had an ad in the paper and I responded to the ad. It worked out well, he brought me in with open arms and its been awesome."
The obvious question for Coach Ryan was why would an ex-NFL player apply for an assistant coaching job at a high school? For Hunter, it was an easy answer.
"The truth is I do have a passion for football. This is my way to give back to the kids. I've been there, I've done it and I'm trying to show them how to do it as well."
While this is Hunter's first year coaching, he already know exactly where he wants to be with his career in the near future.
"My plan is ten years or less to be a head coach at a college or NFL team, and I think I can do it."
He's worked his way from high school, to college, to the pro ranks before. Who's to say he can't do it again from the sidelines?
