SYRACUSE -- Gomez and Dave seemed pretty distracted on Thursday as we visited their morning show, very interested in a letter they received claiming they won $750,000 and a BMW. But while their producer Becca called overseas to claim the prize, we engaged in a colorful conversation about how much the Orange need to beat the Zips.

SU fans started to get that 2008 vibe when they lost so badly to West Virginia a couple weeks ago, and a loss to the Zips would certainly take them right back to the bad old days. I compared it to mending an untrusting relationship by catching your partner while they fall backwards into your arms. The Orange better be there on Saturday to catch their trusting fans, or things could get ugly again!

The Zips have lost their two main quarterbacks, while the Orange defense has looked pretty darned good this season against some really tough opponents. They should be able to take down an Akron offense that's depending on two freshman quarterbacks to lead the way. Obviously it's the SU offense that needs to do their job, minimizing penalties, botched 3rd down conversions and turnovers.
