MEXICO, OSWEGO CO. --
When Tia Bullard sets her mind to something, she usually accomplishes it. That was the case two weeks ago when she broke the Mexico Middle School course record.
Tia is a junior cross country runner at Mexico High School, and her strong work ethic and record breaking performances have head coach Pat Ross calling her one of the best runners he's seen in 19 years at Mexico.
"Tia ranks near the top. If not the best, one of the best runners to ever come through here. She sets goals and she works very hard to achieve those goals," says Ross.
Even though Tia is only a junior, she sees herself as a leader, as do her teammates. Bullard says, "I think they look to me when they need advice about things or when they need to know what to do."
Sophomore Meghan Yost says, "You see her be able to accomplish all that and then be able to say, 'I was there and able to see it', it's really cool."
With sectionals coming up next week, Tia says she's not looking to break any records, but just hoping she puts up a good time.
"I don't know about the record because there's a lot of fast people, but I definitely hope to be one of the top runners that day."
Congratulations to Tia Bullard, this week's Dunkin' Donuts Action News Athlete!
