VERONA -- Dozens of golfers will test their skills at the third annual Jim Boeheim Golf Classic presented by Metro Mattress.
Golfers will take to the links Thursday, July 29th at the Shenendoah Golf Club at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino to benefit the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation. This is one of the premier fundraising golf events of the Central New York summer raising nearly $175,000 over the past two years.
Syracuse Basketball Head Coach Jim Boeheim will be among the Syracuse legends joining golfers on the course. Syracuse Director of Athletics Daryl Gross, former SU football All-American Chris Gedney and basketball great Gerry McNamara are among those expected to attend. Metro Mattress CEO David Shiroff will also play.
The event includes a two man Best Ball competition and other skills events such as trying to land a golf ball on a Syracuse University Orange blanket 250 yards away from the tee box. Also, golfers will attempt to smash a golf shot through a SU logo set 50 yards away.
The Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation strives to enrich the lives of kids in need in the Central New York community and provide support for eliminating cancer through research and advocacy.
NBC3 Anchor and Managing Editor Matt Mulcahy will be the Master of Ceremonies for the banquet that follows the golf tournament.
