Three local high schools have won New York State Lacrosse Championships.

In Class B Boys Lacrosse, it was a finish that probably reminds fans of SU beating Cornell in overtime in 2009.

Jamesville-Dewitt and Garden City battled to overtime on the campus of Cicero-North Syracuse High School but how the Red Rams captured the State Championship is something that everyone in attendance won't soon forget.

Garden City gained posession and looked to perhaps score the dagger as they wound the clock down to under 20 seconds in overtime. J-D though, earned great defense from Scott Firman who poked the ball free and found an open long-stick in Matt Kopp. Kopp ran the break, and found the sophomore sensation Jordan Evans who leapt past the Garden City goalie and sent the ball in the net for the State Championship winning goal.

It's J-D's third state title in the past five seasons ('07, '10, '11) and 44th consecutive win.

The Class A Championship game was just as exciting, but the outcome wasn't as positive for CNY lacrosse fans as the Little Red from Ithaca dropped a heartbreaking 12-11 decision to Farmingdale from Long Island. The loss snapped a 17 game win streak for Ithaca High School.

In Class C, Cazenovia Athletics continued its dream school year with the boys lacrosse team capturing a Class C Championship with a 14-6 win over Bayport-Bluepoint. The Lakers took an early lead and never looked back en route to a 9-2 halftime lead and the 8 goal victory. This year has truly been special for Caz, who never saw a team state championship before the 2010-2011 school year. Back in the fall, the field hockey team won it all, in the winter hockey captured the first boys state championship, and the year was capped off correctly by the boys lacrosse team.

In Girls Lacrosse, Central New York only had one shot left at a state title on Saturday and lucky for us, CBA delivered. In a back-and-forth affair, CBA's Sophia Racciatti scored what would be the game winner with 57 seconds left in the contest to deliver the Brothers to a 9-8 win over Mount Sinai. It's the first ever lacrosse state championship for Christian Brothers Academy.

In Softball, C-NS saw its dream season end at the hands of John Jay-East Fishkill in the Class AA State Championship. The Northstars suffered their first loss of the season 8-2,  after defeating Niagara-Wheatfield 8-2 in the semifinal contest.

Hamilton's softball team also fell in the state semifinals.
