The Syracuse Orange Football team is exposed to a training regimen that most people couldn't even dream of completing.
So when the Orange is put to the test, you know it's a legit challenge.
The Orange continued its friendship with the troops of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum near Watertown, by joining the troops for some drills on Friday learning what it's like to be a soldier in training.
The team practiced storming buildings and forming military formations going up stairs, and the day was capped off with a paintball matchup, of course the paintballs were orange. It was an intense day for the Orange, who is accustomed to the toughest of workouts. The players also say the teamwork used to complete the drills will help them along the way in the 2011 campaign.
Most importantly, for both parties involved is the bond that continues to develop with the team and the troops. The Soldiers joined SU for a dinner during spring practices, and say they'd love for the team to come back several more times.
Rest assured, when the 2011 season begins for the Orange (September 1st, vs. Wake Forest at the Carrier Dome) the loudest cheering section will be wherever the brave men and women of the 10th Mountain Division happen to be watching.
