SYRACUSE -- Whatever Brendan Smith does, he excels at.
Evidence of that is this: Smith is a Track and Cross Country runner at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse. His team needed help in the Steeple Chase event, an event that Smith had never done before. To say Smith rose to the challenge would be an understatement, he won a New York State Championship in the event.
Brendan, who is now a senior at CBA excels in the athletic forum as well as in the classroom. He's had straight A's all through high school and has set a lofty goal of getting into an Ivy League school.
Then again, is any goal "lofty" for Brendan Smith?
"I hope they can look up to me." Smith said of the underclassmen runners for CBA. "We need to set a good example, we really push each other and it's gone well"
Smith is in the midst of a greuling Cross Country season and plans to run Track and Field in the spring.
He also hopes to continue his athletic career wherever he attends college.
