Top MLB prospect Bryce Harper was optioned to AAA Syracuse today by the Washington Nationals. Harper, a former No.1 draft pick, is just 19 years old, and will likely play centerfield while in Syracuse.
Harper finished his 2011 season in Class AA Harrisburg, and his move to the minors ensures that the Nationals with have rights to Harper for the next 6 seasons after next season.
He's the second big time prospect to come through Syracuse in the past 5 years, as Stephen Strasburg, now a Nationals starting pitcher, lit up the radar gun at Alliance Bank Stadium in 2010.
