SYRACUSE (AP) -- Another milestone for the Carrier Dome.
Two fields - one for softball and one for baseball - have been set up inside, and the No. 24 Syracuse women's softball team is playing Colgate on Friday night. It's the first-ever softball game under the Teflon roof.
A Little League baseball game also will be played on the weekend.
The field where the women will play is 197 feet down the right field line, 190 to left, and 200 to center. The left-field corner ends at the runway where the football team enters the field for games. Home plate is at the 50-yard line.
Coach Leigh Ross hopes it's a permanent thing and that it will help recruiting because the team spends the first six weeks each year on the road.
