He boasts a final record of 61-5-1 it would seem as if "Hitman" Tommy Hearns induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota is overdue. Then however, you must remember that Hearns was still fighting in 2006, at age 47, and winning mind you, then you know why there was a delay--it was mandatory.

That's why the "Hitman" is in Canastota as part of the Class of 2012, 34 years after his first professional fight. As he was constantly signing autographs for gracious fans, Hearns, who certainly still passes the look test as a pro boxer, was being dubbed "The people's champion".

He'll always be remembered for his multiple championships won, and his legendary bouts with the likes of "Sugar" Ray Leonard and "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler.

I was able to catch up for a one-on-one interview with Hearns, just before he had his fists cast done at the Hall of Fame, which will be on display for years to come.
