It's a matter of pride.
But most of all, a night of entertainment for race fans in Central New York.
That's because the Sprint Cars, famous in the Midwest descend on Oswego Speedway to battle the native Super Modified cars for track supremacy.
By track supremacy, I mean the all-time speed record at the track which currently stands at 148 mph. The Sprint Cars and the Super Modifieds will both take part in time trials with the goal to be the new fastest time ever at the Port City's track.
The Sprint Cars have been on tour across America and have set track records at 6 of the 7 tracks they've visited so far, but that will be no easy task at Oswego, where the flat tracks tend to favor Super Modifieds.
