Syracuse born swimmer pulls off Olympic Gold in record breaking fashion

SYRACUSE -- Dana Vollmer was born in Syracuse, raised in Texas, but on Sunday she became an internationally known name.

Vollmer did not quality for the Olympics four years ago, but made the most of it on day two in London, winning gold in the 100-Meter Butterfly in record setting fashion.

Her time of 55.98 seconds is not only an Olympic Record, but is also tops in the World.

An esctatic Vollmer said, "I'm on top of the world now" and believes her best is yet to come, as she added, "I still know I can go faster".

Vollmer beat out China's Lu Ying, who finished with a time of 56.87 seconds.
