SYRACUSE -- After months of silence, football fields across the region were filled with bright lights, cheering fans and young athletes on Friday night, as high school football season began in Central New York.
Skaneateles and Bishop Ludden faced off in a Class B battle at Skaneateles High School, with the Lakers coming out on top 31-24. The Lakers played from behind for much of the game, and needed 24 second half points to pull out the victory.
Camden visited Westhill in another Class B battle. Camden pounded the Warriors on the ground all day long, pulling out a 27-14 victory.
That was about as close as the games got though, as Chittenango, Baldwinsville and Fayetteville Manlius all pounded their opponents to go 1-0 in their 2012 campaign.
