The Corcoran Cougars are one of five undefeated teams in Section III heading into week three of action, and part of the reason for that is this week's CNYCentral Athlete. Senior Jalen Searight has been leading by example over the first two games, rushing for three touchdowns and returning an interception for a touchdown.
"To me, I just play sports," says Searight, "every play I go all in. I do my best, and it's just exciting to me."
Searight is a star running back and standout linebacker and, according to his head coach Tyrone Fisher, his leadership will be a huge factor as the season progresses and the games become more and more important.
"He's great to be able to look to as a leader, " says Fisher, "and to be able to know that when you turn around he's gonna be the guy on the sidelines cheering the guys on, keeping them pumped up"
Searight and the Cougars have their work cut out for them again this Saturday when they take on the Henninger Black Knights.
