It was a day that was months in the making.

But on Saturday, about five months after capturing the National Championship, the men and womens lacrosse programs at Onondaga Community College earned their title rings.

The rings (pictured) are stunning and are a fantastic reward for helping OCC earn the sweep in the JUCO lacrosse world.

So as the ceremony went on Saturday afternoon, many people were rightfully thanked, stories were told, and a lot of pride for Onondaga was beaming.

"They love being a part of this program, they love being a part of this college" said Mens Lacrosse Coach Chuck Wilbur.

"I remember winning it last year and the guys were like let's bring this championships back to Onondaga let's bring the trophy back to the hill. So they take pride in playing for this community and representing this school." added Wilbur.

While the teams share in common beaming with Lazer pride for bringing a championship home to Central New York, the impressive ways both teams won the titles differs.

The mens squad was dominant from start to finish- going 19-0 on the season with the average score of its games being 27-3 in favor of OCC. The Lazer men also set a program record for goals scored in a season with 521, while only allowing 61 goals all year.

The womens team finished with a 14-2 record. Its two losses came to Nassau CC and Monroe CC. In order to win it all, the ladies took out Nassau 12-7 in the National Semifinal and Monroe in the title game 6-5. Not just winning a prestigious national crown, but avenging the only losses they had in the process.

"The team showed tremendous resiliency and confidence, and as we know, it all turned out for the best" said womens coach Tom MacDonald.

The mens championship was OCC's 6th in the last 7 years and for the women it was national title number two in just a four year existence.
