The SU Football team didn't have very much success the last time they played a game in a hostile environment, their 17-10 loss in front of a sold out crowd in Minnesota may have been the most disappointing feeling of the season. But coming off a big win over Pittsburgh to start conference play, the Orange are hoping to work off that confidence heading into an always hostile High Point Solutions Stadium.
"we're playing at noon so hopefully there won't be too many more intoxicated people that we have to deal with," joked SU quarterback Ryan Nassib, "but you never know. It's going to be fun, it's going to be a battle. Rutgers has some loyal fans, and they do a good job of getting loud."
Many of the Orange players say they get extra motivation dealing with a verbal crowd like the one they're sure to experience in New Jersey this weekend, an atmosphere Head Coach Doug Marrone has experienced many time, both as a coach and as an SU player.
"I think it will be an outstanding crowd," says Marrone, "I think when you go away and you see that, you have a better sense of you expectation of exactly what it is. It's very hard. You can't simulate that for a football team. Our players understand the situation that we are going into. Our focus is to make sure that we can play well. It's my responsibility to make sure we go out there on Saturday and put our players in a position to have an opportunity to win a game."
