DETROIT (AP) - Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano are trapped in the throes of inexplicable batting slumps at the worst possible moment, and the rest of the New York Yankees haven't been much better.

With the bad timing of golfer getting the shanks during a major tournament, the Yankees are hitting .205 this postseason going into Game 3 of the AL championship series Tuesday night. New York lost the first two games to the Detroit Tigers.

In the regular season, patience is a virtue when this happens. Streaks and slumps can even out over the course of 162 games. Not so in the playoffs. The Yankees can't afford to wait much longer before turning this series around.
