SYRACUSE -- Something sweet is coming to Destiny USA in Syracuse.

Kerwin's Cakes LLC will open at the mall. According mall officials, Kerwin's Cakes is a Native American family owned and operated business out of Oneida, NY.

The Food Network recently featured the bakery on the show Sweet Genius back in May.

Staff make handmade sugar and chocolate pieces for special occasion cakes and the new store at Destiny USA will offer customized cupcakes in 12 flavors. There will also be different fillings, frostings and toppings for the cupcakes.

"We are passionate about providing a wonderful experience and great desserts for families, couples and loved ones for any occasion," said Co-Owner Kerwin L. Hughes. "At Kerwin's Cakes, it's all about putting the best ingredients into our products to make an event or special occasion better, brighter and sweeter."

Kerwin's Cupcakes will be located on the second level of the mall and is expected to open in early 2013.

The Oneida store is closed as the team gets ready to move to Syracuse.
