Lyons man arrested after choking girlfriend at a laundromat

WILLIAMSON -- An 18-year-old Lyons man was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly choked his girlfriend by the neck at a laundromat.

State Police say in an email that Joseph C. Zanders got in an argument with his girlfriend at a laudromat in the Town of Ontario.  During the argument, Zanders allegedly choked his girlfriend by the neck, in front of the their two-month-old and three-year-old son and left the scene in her vehicle, stranding her and the two children at the laundromat.

Zanders drove the vehicle to his mother's house in the City of Rochester and abandoned it there.  He does not have a driver's license.

Zanders was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal obstruction of breathing and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was arraigned in the Town of Ontario Justice Court and sent to Wayne County Jail in lieu $1,000.00 cash bail.
