Union says they're committed to making sure the city's safe
Syracuse Firefighters hope they do not top last year's record number of calls, in the new year

The Syracuse Fire Department was called out for alarms more last year, than ever before: 27,667 calls in 2012. That, compared to 'just' 25,000 alarms answered in 2011.
Firefighters' Union President Lonnie Johnson points out that it's not just fires that the department responds to. The requests for service are forever changing, but he says firefighters--men and women---love to do what they're doing and continually rise to the challenge. He says they're committed, and want to make sure the city's safe. It's a commitment that continues, as the first alarms come in, in 2013.
