Update:

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweeted late Saturday saying that two sources within the Cleveland Browns said it's "neck and neck" between Doug Marrone and Chip Kelly as their choice for head coach. Meanwhile, the Eagles and Kelly are rumored to be on the verge of striking a deal. This could mean, if true, that Marrone is destined for the NFL. Stay tuned to CNY Central for the very latest.

Original Story-

It's been a whirlwind week where Syracuse Orange football fans have been glued to twitter, message boards and sports websites trying to get any sort of insight as to whether or not Doug Marrone will leave the Orange.

Whether or not that happens, remains to be seen, but on the heels of a Cleveland AP writer saying it was his "understanding" that Marrone wasn't leaving new reports are circulating that are making Syracuse fans uneasy to say the least.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com Marrone has now lined up interviews with the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Diego Chargers within the next week.

This, comes on the heels of a reported interview with Cleveland and the Buffalo Bills confirming via Twitter that Marrone has interviewed with the Western New York franchise.

An NBC Philadelphia twitter handle inferred that Marrone was in the Eagles top two for head coach, of course that was early afternoon Saturday. Those rumors are followed by some this evening that claim Chip Kelly is on the verge of joining Philly.

While Orange fans continue to wait and see what happens, so do Orange recruits.

In fact, Brooklyn standout Laray Smith was supposed to make his college decision last night during the Semper-Fidelis Bowl. That decision was put off until a later date. Smith is long rumored to be leaning towards Marrone and the Orange.

It's no surprise Marrone has garnered this much interest- A head coach with a CEO-like approach has led to success everywhere he's gone. He was the offensive coordinator of a highly potent New Orleans Saints team that won the Super Bowl a year after he left, and of course it's no secret how impressive two bowl wins in three years is for a Syracuse team that hadn't won a bowl before him since 2001.

As the situation remains fluid, we'll keep updating you here and on the air on the networks of CNY Central.
