SYRACUSE -- While newly appointed SU Football head coach Scott Shafer will have to hire as many as five assistant coaches in the off-season with the vacancies left by Buffalo Bills' new head coach Doug Marrone’s hirings, Shafer secured stability on both sides of the ball on Thursday.
SU Athletics announced that both wide receivers coach Rob Moore and defensive line coach Tim Daoust will remain on staff for the 2013 season.
"We look forward to having former Syracuse stand out Rob Moore continue to coach the wide receivers," said Shafer in a statement. "Rob has done a great job bringing his passion and pride for the Orange to work each day. He has done a fantastic job as a technician in teaching the intricacies of wide receiver play."
"I am also extremely excited to have Tim Daoust back," continued Shafer. "As he has done a great job developing the defensive line these past two seasons. He has the line playing with intensity and aggressiveness that has proven to be successful on the field."
Moore, who took the wide receivers job at SU in 2010, mentored All-BIG EAST First Teamer Alec Lemon this passed season as well as CBA High School product Marcus Sales, ended his career in the top 10 on every Syracuse receiving records list. Moore still holds the Syracuse record for average receiving yards per game and touchdown receptions.
Among others, Daoust mentored Chandler Jones, who was the 21st overall selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. He then continued Syracuse's successes in 2012 with the Orange's defense ranking sixth nationally in tackles for loss in 2012.
