A plow and truck hit head-on in LaFayette; leads to DWI arrest

LAFAYETTE -- State Police in LaFayette responded to a serious accident on State Route 11 at Moltion Road at 1:59am Saturday.

Police say a 2004 Dodge pick-up truck, driven by 22-year-old Mitchell C. Sofrankowas hit head-on by a New York State DOT snowplow.

The plow was driven by 60-year-old Michael Andrews. The plow was turning onto State Route 11 when the crash happened.

Both Sofranko and his passenger, 25-year-old Brian Allen were treated at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse. Sofranko was released; Allen was admitted with a possible hip fracture.

Andrews was treated at Upstate for neck pain and released.

Sofranko was arrested for DWI and was also ticketed for speed not reasonable and prudent.

Andrews was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.
